ABOUT THE AUTHOR

11 Responses to 2nd Annual Growing Up in the Valley Star Awards

  1. Roanoke Stamp & Seal. I’ve worked with this company since I graduated in 1992. They make quality products such as rubber stamps, signs, Notary seals & are now venturing into a lot of new products. This is a family owned business started by the Freeman’s & is still going strong. I think the company deserves an award for what they do & looking out for their employees. Couldn’t ask for a better place to work.

    • Sorry if I did this incorrectly. Page took a while to load so I didn’t get to see the businesses listed before I commented.

  2. There are more businesses than listed here on this survey. If you ask me this doesn’t seem like a very fair contest if only the three businesses listed can win. Like Spas– the Homestead and Greenbrier arent even IN the Valley– there are actually Spas here. (and I DONT mean Massage Envy…)

  3. I agree with Wesley. It seems whoever set up the selections for the survey didn’t even visit the NE or NW section of our great city. Not everyone goes to these places, you need to have a write in for each category. Thank you.

  4. Mary – Wesley –

We asked for nominations two months ago and readers nominated businesses. We took the top three in each category to limit the voting process and make it a bit easier for people to vote.

    Thanks for your support!

  5. My son went to Roanoke Catholic for 5 years and then to Community School for the next 4 years. Don’t be fooled by the more laid back approach at Community School! When he switched he was either at the same level as the CS kids or behind and he was an honor roll student at Roanoke Catholic. CS kids were way ahead of him in Spanish and Language Arts….everything else was pretty equal. He learned so much at CS and had experiences there that he would never have anywhere else. The staff and community there is awesome!
